Traditional cobwebs of various genres and styles, very thick and juicy guitar sound, ideal distribution of neat sound effects – these are some of the reasons why 311 are so much loved by music lovers all around the globe. It may be a surprise, but one can hardly find a sort of an average work of 311, because all of them had been created with true love. Soundsystem (1999) pleased the band’s fans with new hits, including the famous Come Original, Flowing and other songs, which took a notable place in 311’s discography. This musical diversity was among other reasons, which led the band to success. These genres are quite different from each other, and some of these directions are really exotic, thereby they are so interesting to listeners. The rockers somehow managed to combine various directions in their art, from funk-rock and funk-metal to reggae and even jazz-fusion. The studio work titled Transistor (1997) proved to be not less interesting then its predecessors and got the Platinum status – the connoisseurs of music really enjoyed the easy recognizable unique 311 style. By the way, it was 311 that presented such well-known and tried-and-true hits as All Mixed Up and Don't Stay Home. A year later 311 issued the second studio attempt Grassroots (1994), while their self-titled album 311 was released in 1995. Who knows if the rockers really had such plans, however they conquered the world indeed. Then the task was to conquer the rest of the USA and the whole world. It is worth mentioning that 311 had already had the fans in West Coast – numerous shows definitely played their role. The musicians managed to attract attention to their creativity in practically no time. Thereby, together with Chad Sexton, Nick Hexum and Aaron Wills they formed 311 in the shape that became popular to music lovers all around the world.ģ11’s debut record saw the light in 1993 and it got quite the logical name Music. Later the group was joined by a DJ and a vocalist Douglas Martinez. By 1991 the guitarist Jim Watson left the band, but soon his place was taken by Tim Mahoney. Shows at local bars and small clubs turned out to be a good thing anyway, as soon as it brought such a priceless experience. The success did not come during the very first stages, but it could not stop the artists. Once, the young men decided to try their luck in the music field. Its members have been friends since the school and they were united by their love to music. The famous American rock band 311 was formed in late eighties in Nebraska. ![]()

William Faulkner is one of the most celebrated American authors of all time. This is one of the most famous quotes about the past. Image: CC0 Public Domain Carl Van Vechten – Library of Congress via Wikimedia Commons. The quote teaches us not to underestimate or ignore the past, it does not often stay put. Often times we think we have control over the past and leave it confined somewhere, only to have it reemerge in an unexpected place or at an unexpected time. This particular quote has many interpretations, but a common one is that it is a comment on how the past affects us. Someone with so colorful of a past is bound to have ideas on it. She led a highly eventful life, living all over the United States and Mexico, writing for and appearing in early movies, almost dying of disease twice and being married/divorced four times. Katherine Anne Porter was a writer, activist, and journalist who rose to fame in the early 20th century. “The past is never where you think you left it.” In any case, just as with the past itself, their ultimate meaning to you will rely largely on your interpretation. It only means that one can see the facts in different lights or interpret their meaning in a different way to gain a better understanding of what has befallen them. This idea is not to say that it is preferable, right or ethical to misrepresent or alter facts to one’s liking. However, these intellectuals and thinkers share a unique belief: That not only can we interpret the past differently as time goes on, but we can also free ourselves from feeling shackled by it. Indeed, accepting that we can view the past in a different way is a radical idea to some in itself. But many of the wisest and smartest among us choose to see it differently. We both venerate and reviled it as immutable, unchanging and unalterable. Also, difficult childhood memories can feel especially hard to reframe. Pic 7: My final step is to help everything stay in place with a bandana across the top, then buckling the internal straps in an “X” over the bandana. (One pair of shoes in the right side pocket cards, jewelry pouch, flashlight, adaptor, and sewing kit in the left.) Pic 6: If I were on a road trip, or not worried about anyone digging in my bag, I would take advantage of the organization the side pocket offer and pack this way. (I used a TSA approved combination lock on the two zippers to the main compartment to secure my bag.) There are two side pockets, but for this trip, security was an issue and I didn’t want to risk losing things in the outside pockets to anyone’s sticky fingers. Pic 5: The bag easily fits everything in the main section. Running shoes (with a pair of socks stuffed in each shoe) Everything I will pack, ready to go into the bag. To give you an idea what this bag holds, here’s what went into it on my recent five week volunteer trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. Keeping heavier items toward the back/bottom eliminates the issue and the bag stands up beautifully on its own. (Ideally I would prefer it to have four spinner wheels rather than two roller wheels.) However, I’ve finally found a solution to this by using packing cubes and putting a little more thought into how I arrange what’s inside the bag. I’ve never had anything damaged because of it tipping, but it’s a little bit of a nuisance to have to find a place to prop it up or deal with picking it back up every time it tips. My least favorite thing about this bag is its tendency to tip over when standing upright. (It also has a handle at the top and two straps that Velcro together across the body to assist with lifting/carrying.) The bag is very easy to pull, even fully stuffed. Most airlines limit each bag to 50lbs (23kgs), so filling the bag to capacity, I’ve gotten to that limit, but never over. It provides the perfect quantity to weight ratio. My favorite thing about this bag is that, it’s almost impossible to pack it overweight. ![]() It’s a great size for storing under a bed and rolling out as needed. I’ve found myself using the bag during my trip like a drawer or chest, in lieu of an actual dresser. The U-shaped opening makes it easy to see everything in the bag and get to the item I want without digging around for it. With the packing cubes, it’s easy to stay organized throughout my trip and keep all my belongings in the same place. As a bonus, it does double duty once at my destination. It’s been durable and easy to maneuver through airports, city streets, and African soil. The bag has been perfect for my move to Hawaii and most recently for a five week stay in Thailand. (There’s also a medium size option, which would be a shorter trip or a more minimalist packer.) The bag comes in a variety of colors, and while it may not be the most polished look, it definitely stands out on a luggage carousel! I initially bought the bag to take to Kenya for a two-year term in the Peace Corps, so I purchased two of the extra large size. ![]() ![]() It weighs just under 8 lbs (3.5kg) which is really light for its size. It hasn’t disappointed! The wheels are great, as is the wide opening and soft construction. Having traveled with every bag style from military duffle to hiking backpack to traditional, old-fashioned suitcase, I picked this hybrid style, hoping it would be the best of all worlds. I also knew if the bag didn’t hold up in any way (unlikely, given the rigorous testing of all L.L.Bean bags) I could have it repaired or return it without any hassle. When choosing luggage, I went with this company because of that guarantee, knowing that if I took the bag on a trip (or ten) and didn’t like the way it performed, I could return it, no questions asked. I have a lot of experience with L.L.Bean products, and my favorite thing about the company is their lifetime guarantee. (On my own time, I pack a lot lighter and usually in a backpack.) As a volunteer, I tend to bring those “just in case” kind of items, as well as supplies necessary to the trip.įor these trips, I’ve found the perfect bag: the L.L.Bean Quickload Upright Rolling Duffle ($179 US). Since I most often travel with nonprofit organizations and am usually interacting with children or needing to keep within a dress code, I don’t pack like a tourist. I currently live on the island of Oahu in tropical Hawaii, where I work in the hospitality industry. I’ve traveled to destinations on five continents and am itching to put my feet on the last two ( South America and Antarctica). At the tender age of 13 the travel bug bit me and I haven’t ever recovered. The following L.L.Bean rolling duffle review has been submitted by Leah Buckman. ![]() 8/3/2023 0 Comments Chicago ipass![]() ![]() She had a faulty transponder, and she said the Tollway removed her fees and sent a new one her way. Zevon grew up in California and Arizona, but moved frequently thanks to his father's profession: professional gambler. The range of his lyrics, co mbined with his talents as a musician and composer, made Zevon a long-standing favorite of critics, fellow musicians, and devoted fans. He would not live long enough to celebrate his first-ever Grammy nominations and awards. In one last mordant, even macabre, twist, Zevon's greates t critical and commercial success would be The Wind, the album he recorded as he knew he was dying from cancer. His lyrics were consistently called ironic and darkly humorous. Warren Zevon's career took almost as many strange twists and turns as the stories of the bizarre characters in his songs.
